Frequently Asked Questions
Do the children read the books themselves?
No, parents read the books to their children. Older
siblings and other family members often help with the
reading. It’s an enjoyable project for the whole
family.
1000 books seems like a lot to read. How long
does it take to complete the program?
It depends on how often you read to your child. Typically
it takes about three years to complete but our first
family finished the books in less than a year.
How do I keep track of how many and which book
packs we’ve read?
There is a grid on the registration form with the book
pack numbers. Check off the pack numbers as you take
them out.
What if we get to the end of the project and
we can’t find the number pack that we need to
finish?
There are two sets of book packs at the Marlboro Free
Library. One is labeled # and the other is labeled *.
You may borrow any number pack in either set or you
may borrow any pack from the Sarah Hull Hallock Library.
This makes the availability of 300 packs from which
to choose. If you interchange libraries you must register
at both but this gives you flexibility and the opportunity
to visit the different sites.
